Marvell Lifts Its Fiscal 2028 Goal to $20 Billion and Sets $70 Billion to $90 Billion for 2031

Marvell Technology raised its fiscal 2028 revenue goal to about $20 billion from $18 billion and set a fiscal 2031 range of $70 billion to $90 billion at its investor day on Tuesday, against about $12 billion expected for fiscal 2027 and $8.2 billion in fiscal 2026, per Benzinga. Consensus for fiscal 2028 had been $18.2 billion and Piper Sandler’s fiscal 2031 estimate was about $45 billion, per the same report; Investing.com reported the long-term model includes non-GAAP EPS above $30. Marvell closed at $287.01, up 5.81%, and was indicated at $281.26, down 2.00%, in premarket trading, per StockAnalysis.

"We expect approximately $20 billion in total company revenue in FY28, representing about 67% year-over-year growth." — Matt Murphy, CEO, Marvell Technology, via Yahoo Finance

Murphy’s 67% is arithmetic on the roughly $12 billion base, and the 2031 range then requires 54% to 61% annual growth over five years, per Benzinga. Stocktwits reported TD Cowen upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold with a $350 target from $245, Jefferies moved to $450 from $325 and Evercore to $433 from $275. On ChipSentinel’s reading, the winners are the interconnect names that rose with it, Astera Labs and Credo, and the risk is that the premarket fade shows the targets were already priced: the Street average target of $305.46 sits only 6.4% above Tuesday’s close.

Texas Instruments Heads to October 21 Results on a $5.9 Billion Consensus as Qualcomm Faces Arm

  • Texas Instruments reports October 21, with consensus at $5,908 million of revenue, up 23%, and EPS of $2.42, against guidance of $5.65 billion to $6.15 billion and $2.23 to $2.57, per Hudson Labs (October 5), whose preview puts gross margin consensus at 61.8%, cites price increases beginning in the third quarter and notes inventory down to 196 days. The shares closed Tuesday at $297.23, up 0.79%, per StockAnalysis, and Trefis (October 6) noted the stock was up 0.8% since the July 22 guidance against 3.5% for the S&P 500. Why it matters: consensus revenue sits just below the $5.9 billion guidance midpoint, and a 61.8% gross margin on price increases and falling inventory is what analog and industrial investors are underwriting, independent of the AI memory cycle.
  • Qualcomm and Arm began a five-day trial over Qualcomm’s claims that Arm withheld chip-testing tools and leaked a 2024 license-termination threat that damaged talks on a Meta chip deal, per Investing.com (October 5). Qualcomm seeks to stop paying Arm royalties for up to five years, with damages potentially worth billions, and Judge Maryellen Noreika is weighing removal of the five-year royalty-hold provision; Arm denies breaching the contract. Why it matters: the outcome is binary for Arm’s royalty line and Qualcomm’s cost of goods, and the judge’s handling of the royalty-hold provision is the first read on how large the remedy could be.

Goldman Sees Rebalancing Flows Favoring SK Hynix Over Samsung Before Thursday’s Results

  • SK hynix closed Tuesday at $182.56, down 6.39%, while Goldman Sachs analyst Heather Oh expects semiconductor fund rebalancing to send inflows to SK hynix and outflows from Samsung Electronics this week, a "mechanical bid" under the stock, per 24/7 Wall St (October 6), which also reported SanDisk down 2% to $1,675.08 and Micron up 0.3% to $1,066.91. Why it matters: index-driven flows are timing effects rather than a change in DRAM pricing, so the ADR’s decline and any rebound this week say little about contract prices ahead of the October 27 results.
  • Goldman Sachs cut its Samsung Electronics third-quarter operating profit forecast about 5% to 106 trillion won from 112 trillion won, against a 105.5 trillion won consensus, per Parameter (October 6), citing a won at 1,418 per dollar against its 1,460 assumption and $2.6 billion of foreign selling over five sessions. The same note lists roughly $14 billion of ETF rebalancing, options expiry and the end of Samsung’s 15 trillion won buyback on Thursday, and still expects HBM bit shipments up about 50% quarter over quarter on HBM4. Why it matters: a forecast below a consensus it was already near leaves little room for a miss, and the buyback ending removes a source of share demand just as the HBM4 ramp is meant to carry the earnings story.

Intel Stays on Terafab After TSMC Talks as Google’s Marvell Warrant Ties to $120 Billion

  • Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the company will keep working on Elon Musk’s Terafab chip project after Musk confirmed talks with TSMC, with Musk writing "Just discussions, but something may come of it," per The Next Web (October 7), citing Bloomberg; the Texas project carries $16.8 billion of initial funding. Intel closed Tuesday at $112.50, down 3.18%, per StockAnalysis, and Stocktwits reported a gain of about 2.5% in overnight trading. Why it matters: the project is Intel’s main named outside customer for its 14A process, so the question for foundry revenue is whether TSMC’s role is a sublease of space or a competing manufacturing owner.
  • Google’s warrant on up to about 59 million Marvell shares at a $206.58 strike vests in 240 equal tranches, one for each $500 million of cumulative custom product revenue through fiscal 2033, implying up to $120 billion of purchases, per Tech Times (October 6). Why it matters: on ChipSentinel’s arithmetic, the warrant is worth $80.43 per share at Tuesday’s $287.01 close and about $12.2 billion of exercise cost if fully exercised, so the customer’s upside is tied to its own purchasing and the dilution arrives only as the revenue does.

Rare-Earth Deadline Looms for Auto Chipmakers as Taiwan Indicts Ten Over Analog Chips

  • China’s one-year suspension of its expanded rare earth export controls expires November 10 with no renewal announced, with the International Energy Agency warning $6.5 trillion of downstream production outside China is exposed and automotive above $3 trillion of it, per Startup Fortune (October 6); Asia Times reported the same day that a separate U.S.-China trade truce was extended two months to January 10, 2027. Why it matters: the automotive and industrial analog cohort, including Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, NXP, Infineon, onsemi and STMicroelectronics, sells into vehicle and equipment output that rare-earth magnet supply directly gates, so a lapse would show up as order softness rather than chip shortages.
  • Taiwanese prosecutors indicted ten people on charges of aggravated fraud, document forgery and money laundering over military-grade Texas Instruments and Analog Devices chips that were repackaged as "made in Taiwan" and exported to China and Hong Kong, per Taipei Times (October 6), with proceeds of about NT$360 million, or US$11.33 million, and prosecutors seeking one to ten years in prison. Why it matters: the case targets resellers rather than the manufacturers, and $11.33 million is about 0.06% of Texas Instruments’ $19.45 billion of trailing revenue, so the exposure is compliance and diversion scrutiny rather than earnings.

Needham Lifts Marvell to $400 as SemiAnalysis Finds Sparse Attention Still Needs HBM Capacity

  • Needham raised its Marvell price target to $400 from $300 and kept a Buy rating, valuing the shares at about 31 times its calendar 2028 non-GAAP EPS estimate of $13.00 and citing data center connectivity growth and the $20 billion fiscal 2028 revenue goal, per Investing.com (published October 7).
  • SemiAnalysis found that sparse attention in GLM-5.3 cuts key-value cache memory and bandwidth at the attention step but does not reduce total memory capacity use, with host DRAM absorbing 40.3% of cache reuse at 16 concurrent requests against 6.0% at 8, per SemiAnalysis (background reading, published September 28).
